An Introduction to NEC4 (Sept)

Construction Related Training
Date: 26th September 2019 | Time: 9.00am – 5.00pm

Introduction

The NEC family of contracts, now in its 4th edition, has become the contract family of choice for public sector projects in Northern Ireland.

The structure, terminology and concepts embodied in the NEC contracts are very different to those in the more familiar traditional standard form of contracts.

This one day course will focus on the full NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract for major contracts of any complexity, including those let under the Design and Build route and target cost arrangements. Questions on NEC3 will also be welcome.

The course will start with an overview of the contract before focussing in on the aspects of the contract that participants want the trainer to cover.

At the end of this highly interactive course, you should know

  • the principal objectives of the NEC
  • how it is designed as a management tool
  • the important clauses e.g. payment and how change is evaluated
  • how to implement it effectively and
  • the answer to any real life questions, whether on NEC3 or 4, that you bring to the training
