Through our partnership with Danske Bank, we provide members with expert commentary on banking related matters as well as the opportunity to engage in a range of events specific to the industry’s needs.
Free Legal Hotline
In association with A&L Goodbody, one of the top law firms in Northern Ireland, CEF offers members exclusive free legal advice for up to half an hour. If any additional time is required, members are charged at a discounted rate.
The CEF/Towergate Dawson Whyte Insurance Package provides CEF Full and Associate members with a minimum saving of 10% below the normal rate offered by a panel of insurance underwriters on their standard policies for the standard core products. These are: Employers Liability; Public Liability and; Products Liability. In addition, Towergate Dawson Whyte provides a dedicated CEF Insurance Advice Line.
A free one hour consultancy service is available for members on planning issues. This service is provided by Turley Associates, one of the leading planning consultancies in Northern Ireland.
Through Forde May Consulting, we provide members with an HR advisory service which covers issues including: recruitment and selection; induction; performance management and; conducting interviews. A twenty minute free telephone consultation is available to members, followed by a 10% discounted rate on further advice and support.
We provide members with a variety of assistance and information regarding employment law issues including a standard set of employment documents as well as conditions of employment that include wages and holidays.
Members receive regular updates on tax matters of specific relevance to the industry through BDO Northern Ireland, one of our Federation Patrons.
Pensions Auto-Enrolment Service
We provide two pension schemes which allow you to comply with auto-enrolment legislation. Every employer is given a date set in law when their duties start, their ‘staging’ date. As a company’s staging date approaches, a number of processes need to be completed to demonstrate compliance with the required legislation. We provide members with an auto-enrolment delivery and support programme. The Scheme Administrator has successfully delivered pensions since 1982.
Environmental Support and Advice
Through A&L Goodbody, we provide free professional advice to members on legal environmental queries and provide quarterly updates to an Environmental Law Register. We also maintain our own environmental management system – NVIR-O-CERT.
Tender Query Support
The Federation takes a pro-active role in promoting and persuading clients to follow best practice in tendering for construction projects and are often successful in changing onerous tendering conditions.
Health & Safety Support & Advice
Members can avail of a wealth of health and safety support and advice. Services include a Site Safety Inspection Service, the Construction Skills Register, Safe-T-Cert, Courses and Seminars and regular Best Practice Guidance.
Courses and Seminars
We provide a wide range of highly useful and informative courses, seminars and other events aimed at both managers and construction professionals. Most of the courses count towards CPD points required by professional bodies. CEF members are entitled to a 25% discount and many courses are approved for CITB grants.
We always ensure members are kept up to date with all developments in the industry, tender information and the work that we undertake on their behalf. We do this through our Weekly News Update, regularly updated website, circulars, Committee and Local Association meetings.
A Membership Certificate is issued annually and members can also add the CEF logo to their website and stationery. Members also have the opportunity to participate in the annual CEF/Specify Construction Excellence Awards to showcase their own achievements. Through our quarterly State of Trade survey, members are invited to provide anonymous company data that, combined, gives the most accurate picture of the industry in Northern Ireland. In addition, members can hire meeting room/s at the Federation’s office on the Malone Road in Belfast.
