JCT: Overview of the JCT in NI
This half day session covers a number of specific elements relating to the JCT and how to ensure the best contractual management. This course is focused towards how Contractors manage the client, ensure compliance with the Contract and manage its supply chain. This half day course shall also highlight key areas of risk that every Contractor should be aware of when embarking or tendering for a JCT project. There will also be an allotted 30min at the end of the session for a Q&A session.
Key elements that will be covered include:
- Intro the different forms of JCT: What are the differences and risk of each form
- Managing Risk and Design Responsibility for DB 2016 contracts
- Contract Administration: Payment (and getting paid)
- Claims for Time and Money: How does the JCT work when claiming for Time and Money (and what do I need to do and what do I need to show?)
There will also be notes on what to look out for when being asked for certain types of insurance, warranties and bonds.

David McNeice is a solicitor and Senior Associate heading up DWF's Construction and Infrastructure team in Ireland. He has extensive experience dedicated specifically to working in the construction and engineering sector throughout the UK and Ireland. David has worked with some of the UK and Ireland’s largest public authorities, contractors and sub-contractors, as well as advising all members of the supply chain on NEC, FIDIC, IChemE, ICC (ICE) and JCT projects.
David is regularly invited to give guest talks and public seminars on the both the JCT and NEC and best practice to various institutions, including the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Builders, the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors and the Institute of Engineers Ireland. David is also the Convenor of the Adjudication Society for Ireland. He is an Associate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (AMICE).
Cancellations made within 7 working days of the course/seminar start date are subject to a 50% cancellation fee. Cancellations made within 5 working days are subject to a 100% cancellation fee. All cancellations must be notified to Construction Federation Services in writing. Email notifications are acceptable. A telephone message is not sufficient as a notice to cancel. Delegate substitutions are welcome. If delegates do not attend a course/seminar without giving a notice of cancellation within the appropriate timeframe, no refund will be given.
