1800 Free Qualifications Delivered
The Qualifying the Existing Workforce programme delivered in partnership between the Joint Council for the Building & Civil Engineering Industry and CITB has recently come to an end. The programme which delivered almost 1800 NVQ Level 2 qualifications was funded by the Department for the Economy.
The qualifications, delivered over a five year period, covered a range of occupations across the industry with the most prevalent being plant, bricklaying, concreting and wood occupations.
John Armstrong, Managing Director of the Construction Employers Federation and Employers Secretary of the Joint Council commented, “The Qualifying the Workforce programme undoubtedly has been a huge success. Almost 1800 construction works now have a qualification which recognises their experience, a qualification which benefits the candidate and their employer. The success of the programme highlights the appetite of the construction industry to constantly upskill the workforce. It also demonstrates the success that can come from close collaboration between a wide range of industry representatives and government”.
