Over two and a half years since the collapse of the Northern Ireland Executive, local construction firms have made it very clear that a market recession is likely, if not already happening. This is the key headline from the latest State of Trade Survey, for the first half of 2019, conducted by the Construction Employers Federation.
The Joint Council for the Building & Civil Engineering Industry (Northern Ireland) has today decided to promulgate the Industry Holidays for 2019/20.
The Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) has a number of upcoming opportunities for contractors to provide No Fines External Wall Insulation and Associated Works to a number of NIHE properties across all three NIHE regions. These works are part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Investment for Growth and Jobs Programme for Northern Ireland 2014-2020. In order to inform the market of the upcoming opportunities, NIHE will host a Meet the Buyer event on Monday 9th September at 2pm in Room 10, Twickenham House Ballymena. If you wish to attend this event please confirm your attendance by email to martin.mclaughlin@nihe.gov.uk no later than Thursday 5th September at 5pm.
There is only one week remaining before the Construction Skills Register (CSR) removes all occupational assessments, including supervisors. From 1 September 2019 all new blue and gold card applicants will be required to hold an NVQ Level 2 qualification (or higher) relevant to the card holder’s occupation. Health and safety training will continue to be required.
