Safe-T-Cert gearing up for ISO45001

The Safe-T-Cert Joint Standards Advisory Panel met recently to discuss the upcoming introduction of ISO45001. Richard Jones, IOSH’s Head of Policy and Public Affairs, gave a presentation on the new health and safety standard and then discussion focussed on potential changes to Safe-T-Cert.

The Northern Ireland Construction Group, which brings together the leading trade and professional bodies in the region, has organised a talk of industry-wide significance to address major issues of building quality that have come to light in recent months. The hard hitting talk “Is anyone watching the quality?” will focus on the findings from the Independent Inquiry into the Construction of Edinburgh Schools which was established after the collapse of a wall at Oxgangs Primary School and the subsequent closure of 17 schools. The talk will be delivered by Northern Irish architect John Cole who led the inquiry.

Electrical Licence to Practice - Do you know your responsibilities?

The SparkSafe Electrical Licence to Practice (LtP) initiative is the first of its kind in the UK. The initiative became subject to a formal Procurement Guidance Note (PGN 01/16 Electrical Licence to Practice Initiative for Electrical Workers) in February 2016. PGN 01/16 requires that only Licensed electrical workers are employed to undertake electrical installation work on behalf of Government.
