Construction Skills Register - Three Year Plan
Construction Skills Register (CSR) has announced a 3 year plan to further raise standards and improve health and safety across the construction industry in NI.
The CSR 3 year plan has been developed to reflect the industry’s commitment to qualifying the workforce, coupled with the need to ensure continued mobility and acceptance of CSR cards across the UK.
The planned changes will affect all new cards issued and will be phased in over the next 3 years to include the removal of occupational assessments, introduction of a minimum standard of NVQ Level 2 for skilled occupations and further enhancement of the Smart technology of the scheme.
Phase one - the removal of assessments for new manager cards from April 2018.
Phase two - the identification and implementation of further SMART solutions appropriate for the Industry in NI. This may include consideration of a SMART card and the introduction of online testing for renewals. Firm proposals will be in place from January 2018.
Phase three - the removal of supervisory/occupational assessments from September 2019.
CSR is committed to keeping the industry fully updated and further communication will follow.
