Dept of Health Asymptomatic Testing Programme
The Department of Health has today announced that employers from key sectors within Northern Ireland, including construction, can now access the national testing programme as part of a targeted expansion of asymptomatic testing.
Lateral Flow Tests (LFTs) will be used in the workplace testing initiative and will help in the expansion of asymptomatic testing across a range of settings in Northern Ireland.
Individuals with positive LFTs will have to isolate immediately along with their households. They should then book a PCR swab test at their closest test site to confirm the result. Community contact tracing will be initiated on PCR confirmation. If the result of the PCR test is negative the individual and the household can leave isolation and no further action is required.
Full detail on the Programme is available via: https://www.health-ni.gov.uk/workforce-testing
The Programme will not be mandatory, it will be at each eligible company’s discretion as to whether they opt in or not. Companies with 50 or more direct employees will be eligible and if so will test staff, using lateral flow tests, once/twice per week depending on test supply. Staff will be trained to set up the testing by the Department of Health.
