Reminder: Increased wage rates and introduction of Flexible Holidays from 4 December
Members are reminded of the increase in the industry wage rates which come into effect on 4 December 2017. The Joint Council for the Building & Civil Engineering Industry (Northern Ireland) previously promulgated the changes on 18 October 2017.
Members are also reminded that from the beginning of the 2018 Leave Year (4 December 2017) the Industry Holidays will increase from 29 to 30 days per year. Fixed industry holidays will also be replaced by 12 days Fixed Industry Holidays and the remaining 18 days will be Flexible Industry Holidays.
Please note that if an employer wishes to designate a “close down” other than the Fixed Industry Holidays then the workforce should be notified of such a close down at the beginning of the leave year. Any period of close down other than the Fixed Industry Holidays should be on the basis of business need.
The Working Rules Agreement (Blue Book) will be updated to reflect the changes outlined above as they come into effect on 4 December 2017.
